AEG History
AEG stands for "Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft" General Electricity Company which was a German producer of electronics and electrical equipment.
AEG was formed in 1883 by Emil Rathenau who had bought a few patents from Thomas Edison.
AEG bought the company Kühlstein in 1902, founding the New Automobile Company,to make cars but AEG withdrew from car production in around 1908.
In 1967 AEG partnered with the company Telefunken and in 1969 they started working with Siemens AG.
A the start of 1985 AEG was bought out by Daimler-Benz. The company was broken up and the household appliances business was sold to Electrolux in 1996.
In 2005 Electrolux bought the brand name. Today many former departments of AEG exist and use the AEG brand name.
